I would like to hear how everyone cleans their wheels. I finally got around to cleaning my wheels after having my ceramic brake pads installed. I don't have the equipment to jackup the car and remove the wheels so I do this on the ground. A few things I found helpful: 1. A 1-2" 1/8-1/4" 12" long piece of redwood that I had ripped from an earlier fencing project. This was handy to get into the front wheel area that my hands couldn't reach. I just wrapped the cloth around it and applied the Protect All and went to town. Changed the cloth and polished it up... worked great. 2. A creeper! Slid around the car and did all the wheels without having to get up. 3. Leather gloves - kept my hands from getting torn up. Couple of questions: 1. I found some hard water stains that the Protect All would not remove - I even tried Windex with no luck... any ideas on what to use? 2. For Sassy... I found some pinstripe paint on one of my wheels - will the laquer thinner hurt the chrome? ------------------ |

Hi Cliff If you use it, use it sparingly, just dampen the rag It will not hurt the chrome. There is no clear coat on the wheels. Boy, you had it everywhere. I was wondering if the dealership had a problem. It is hard to believe that QC at CAAP with let it out the door like that. Sasy ------------------ |

Sassy, do a search for my Orange posts and see how they let THAT one out the door! Cliff, read my posts where I mention the Protect All and get yourself some Flitz. That will take out even mild rust on chrome and fairly heavy oxidation on polished aluminum, not to mention hard water spots on the wheels. If you polish with the Protect All right after drying though, Protect All will get rid of those spots. ------------------ |

Sassy - what would the dealership have to do with the pinstripe paint? Speaking of which, I had a bug stick to some and it came off - is there some touch up available? I need to get one of those 3M clear bras! Todd - I think these stains are from some sprinkler overspray that I did not catch earlier. I don't wash the car with hard water, so those marks have to be from sprinkler overspray. I will look for Flitz! ------------------ |

From what I have been told, sometimes in transporting these cars or with dealer's mishaps, they may of had to repaint something on the car. Then they would have to re pin strip it too. These dealerships are foxy sometimes and don't mention all. PS Cliff, learn how to do stone chip repairs too. I have got them down pat where they are smooth. Somewhere on the net I saw step by step instructions. Someday if I have time a may do a step by step with photos on chip repair. Cliff.... I carry a bag with cleaning supplies in my cat for quick clean-up. Quick Detailer, window cleaner and the appropriate rags and towels. I also bought two wash mitts (the kind that looks like it was made from a mop!!). One is used (only) for washing the cat. The other I use to quick clean my wheels when I am out. Fortunately for me, I am small and so are my hands, so I am able to get my hands in and about the wheels with little trouble. I do the inside of the wheels (body side) from the inside. It helps to turn the wheels a bit to get to it. The mitt keeps my hands from getting cut up and dirty. I wash the mitt after every use. It can be used with any cleaning product, as I am sure we all have our favorites. ------------------ |

white vinegar on a cool wheel will remove the water spots My guess the car was splashed in the sun as someone watered the lawn, right? I used cooking white vinegar to wash a car that had been washed in the sun and it dried and spotted all over. It will not hurt it and works great and is CHEAP ------------------

Cliff, I had the the front of my Prowler done with 3m Clear Bra. Rocker panels, front fenders, mirrors and more. You have to be looking for it to see it. I am very happy with the 3m. Alex ------------------ |

First wash! Wow just washed the Prowler for the first time. I wish the car had one more area that required me to bend myself into a pretzel like shape to dry. I did ofcourse break out the leaf blower(a neighborhood favorite!) Alas she is clean but, DAMN! I am glad when I bought her that I commited to never letting her see rain. All I did was wash break dust and road grime, I can't imagine what real dirt would be like! Peace:out |

HAHA....I drive my prowler almost everyday and it isnt bad to clean. What gets bad is the knicks from road debris. Ive only been driving my prowler for a few months and it has plenty of them. I wish the factory could have done a little better job on the clearcoat so it would hold up better to debris. the only part of my car that i havent really cleaned is the inside of the wheels and the actual frame and uinderneath which i plan to do b4 i go to the Mopar Nats at E-Town. Got the paint and the hard water spots off the wheels and they are all shiny now  Now to get the 3K service done and I can drive it again!! BTW - Jason - wait too long to clean the insides of those wheels and you will have a real TOUGH job on your hands - especially if you don't have ceramic brakes! ------------------ |
