I just ordered Chrome Shimmer's for my Prowler this morning. I'm sure there are a lot of others that have already installed this on the rear bumpers. I talked to the guy on the phone for guidance. Does anyone have any input - does or don't's - horror stories - praise ???

Excellent product. Use only denatured alcohol to clean bumpers. Be careful! Steady nerves! You are home free!

I watched Jay install shimmers on 15 or more cars a few months ago, including my car...follow his directions to a "t" and you should be ok..toothpicks..or a small metal shaft to stick a small piece to while you are positioning the letters...and use a magnifying glass to get exact placement..may be a 2 man job..each letter is hand cut so be careful..you can always fly Jay to where you are and he'll install them for you...get a shimmer for the radio as well!

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!
that is all. Make sure that you test fit the letters first b4 you remove the back of the tape. Also have an exacto knife handy for alterations i used it. Take your time on it, it pays to follow his directions. Don't handle the sticky tape too much, but get your fingers grease/dirt free first.

Zxlene also works to clean the bumpers, its used as a prep for cleaning spray-on truck beds. Denatured Alcohol works too. Follow intructions..... Piece of Cake!

Even though I had the letters painted on the rear bumpers (Shimmers weren't available yet) I think you could use the following technique to apply the shimmers. I used this technique for applying similiar letters on the rear of my Vette. Maybe Jay can comment on if this would work:

There's an old model builders trick for applying self adhesive trim strips. Remove the letter from the sheet and place it into a solution of water and "Windex"(one at a time). This will allow you to move the letter for some
time until you have it exactly where you want it. Then blot out the excess water with a paper towel. Now with a hair dryer just lightly fan the heat over the letter. Don't hold the dryer directly over the latter too long or it can be damaged. The heat will seal the letter on to the surface. I did a letter at a time but one can do all the letters and then hit the whole thing at once. I've had mine on for over a 2 years now and they're still on and it really does look good. I also used this same method on the hub cap
decals and the steering wheel. I hope this will get you started and have fun.
