After the post on spots in headlight lens I took my car to dealer to see if they would help out.
New hood supports on order. I also mentioned about a small leak from my differential. They immediately put it on a lift to inspect. Could not identify exact location of leak so they added dye to the gear oil, and I'm to bring it back Monday for inspection. Then they will order parts and put everything in when all is here to save down time on my car. I tell you I was very impressed. Mind you, this car has 25k miles on it and they treated it like I bought it yesterday. There was no question on their part about warrantee or anything. ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 04-25-2001 at 05:58 PM |

JD, you have a great dealer it appears. Most would jump on the SC thing to void the service. They know about the gears? ------------------ This message has been edited by butchcee on 04-26-2001 at 08:16 AM |

The leak is out of the diff. gear oil,, not tranny fluid. Some there know about the gears, but don't broadcast it. This is the same dealer that gave me so much grief about fixing my paint when I bought the car. I wanted a different paint shop take care of it,(not a Chrysler shop), and they refused. I just didn't like their shop, so I had to go to a different dealer, with bad results. This is why I was hesitant about taking it there, but they were great about it. These are the same people who replaced my supercharger with another from Paxton after the original developed a small oil leak. A warrantee replacement by Paxton, about 7k miles ago. So yes they know about it. You may be right Fatman, it didn't take much fluid at all to top it off, we shall see. Oh, and BTW. Every time I take it in, the service rep gets to take it for a spin around the lot. Makes him real happy.. This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 04-26-2001 at 09:23 AM |

I don't know about anyone else... but my 3 have no tranny leaks and I would personally not put up with one. I don't even put up with that on my 50 panhead... and I cannot begin to tell you how many have told me that's normal over the years for an old Harley to leak (it's not, trust me) ------------------ |

JOHN!! Anyone would treat you nice if you held their coller the way you do. I've seen how you treated that other guy, grabbed him by his collar, pulled him in, you made sure he smelled your morning breath. You then told him, "I GOT THIS PROBLEM SEE, AND YOUR GOING TO FIX IT .... RIGHT??" Heck, I would jump too ... As a matter of fact ... I have been jumping. That is why my neck hurts!! ------------------ |

Your right CJ Another update,, my service rep called and asked me to bring the car in again.. Seems the service manager finally saw how much the lights cost and fell over. Passenger side is spotted bad so no problem. The other not as bad, but I washed the car and it fogged up good enough to show him . Anyway, three people looked and all agreed, replace them. Will keep you posted. (I'm sure your all on the edge of your seat with this one) lol.

TY Todd. I was told by my service tech while there not to worry but I could see the pained look in the service manager's eyes. So much that as I got about a mile away from the shop I called my service rep on my cell phone to get him to talk away from everyone. He assured me he would take care of it and "don't sweat it". I'm going to call my parts guy today or tomorrow to make sure they were ordered. I give Raider tickets at times to these guys, (service rep, tech and parts), so we shall see what happens. I realize that shouldn't matter but it helps with my service at times. ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 04-27-2001 at 08:33 AM |

Hi I ordered a special spray cleaner that has a long tube you spray in the light assembly. You spray a lot in any opening and then let it run out. It cleans the spots and dirt, will not spot and keeps the inside of the lens fog free for 12 months. I should have the spray this weekend. It is primarily used to clean inside high pressure gages at refineries. I was told that this is what was used on some Porsche years ago. I will try to photograph the procedure to show, can't promise but will try. Sasy ------------------ This message has been edited by SasyMama on 04-30-2001 at 08:27 PM |

These light assemblies do not have a drain that I or my dealer could see. There was suppose to be a hole for humidity according to the tech, but he could not find it. I had water in there for a week one time. I used a dryer to dry it up. Guess you could drill a drain in the bottom. Until then I would be cautious about sending fluid in there. Just JP, these guys are use to the best,,Raiders !!! .. lol ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 04-30-2001 at 09:08 PM |

Well, my car goes out of warranttee this next month. I have not said anything to the dealer about my lights since shortly after getting it. I think now I should, the car has been in heated and air condition garage since new, it has not been washed since last year, but when I had it out last night the lights fogged up BAD. I do not have any spots inside but don't want any either. MY QUESTION for those that have had their lights replace, HAS IT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM? ------------------ |

Hi Larry & Sue This is what I have been told. The vendor of the lights did a silent update to them (No revised part number) From my understanding DC reported this problem to the vendor a while ago. One thing I noticed is the sealing gasket material around the top of the lid is better and thicker. One secret I was told is make sure the 7 screws that hold the lid on the light housing are snug. They do loosen after driving for a while. I have recently decided to get mine replaced too. Just ordered new ones yesterday. Sasy ------------------ |

I drive mine in the rain and wash it lots and so far touch wood no problems with the lites. The dealer I go to is super told them I wanted my paint work done by someone else they had no problem with that they understood that their guys don't do as good a job and that was the end of it. Has any one else got any problems with the quality of the leather seats I'm not impressed and have told the head DC rep he didn't give me much satisfaction though also my CD player skips they are replacing it when I want to bring it in |
