Just recevied this e-mail last night from another Southern California Prowler Owner that requests to remain unknown.
Everyone please be careful and drive defensively, sometimes those around you are not.

Thanks for the e-mail about the upcoming Wildflower cruise, however sorry to inform you that last friday on the way home some young lady (on the cell phone) rear ended me pretty good, so the kat is in the shop right now to be fixed. Just to let you know, her car a brand new vw jetta looked like it hit a brick wall (hood bent up, front grill gone, bumper demolished, both lights broken) on the kat (i have my rear bumpers removed) the lower pan (from metal crafters) was totally smashed, no damage to the borla exhaust at all, only a relatively small crease in the trunk deck lid approx. 18" accross., so all in all the kat held up pretty good.

This happened only a couple of days after Jack Teal posted,

I took my red Prowler out for a drive on PCH in Newport Beach, CA on Sunday, April 8. Beautiful weather. Top down. I had a great CD going (The Hard Rock Cafe Rock & Roll album). I was going along one of the cute picturesque streets in Corona del Mar when wham! A lady backing out of her driveway crashed into me. Took out the right front bumper, crushed the fender, and because I was moving about 20 mph the rear bumper of her car scraped all along the right side of the car. I was stunned. Her husband came rushing out of the house and seemed equally stunned. At first she said she didn't see me but her husband looked at her like she was crazy. They both apologized profusely and I had the car towed to the 5 Star dealer in Irvine.

Maybe it's something in the air?

Looks like the Prowlers have been holding their own in the crashes though!

I use a cell phone too, but I think they should be outlawed for use during driving. Actually I think this law is around the corner here in Michigan. I have seen many a times someone talking and not paying attention to their driving.

That really sucks about two Kat's down in a week... people often do get more careless around spring and holidays though, so everyone be more careful... about the cell phones... while talking can be distracting... personally... If I could not talk and drive... I'd literally loose my house and Kats because of that. I have to, to make a living.

I echo your concerns Todd ... and for THAT matter SassyBabe ... let's outlaw singing to the radio while driving, conversing with passengers while driving, applying make-up while driving, drinking anything (coffee) while driving, etc ... It is NOT the cell phone that is the problem ... it is the idiot behind the wheel that can't probably walk and chew gum either.

Solution? Make safe cell phone usage part of the driver's test they must pass ... at least it might be a step in the right direction to weeding out those potential few bad apples that ruin thingsfor the rest of us saf cell phone users!

I know of another minor crash from someone in Northern Califoria but this was on a race track.

Drive safely and defensively.

Larry, have you taken any pictures of your new Yellow, I hear it's very nice?

I had one of my customers call me today who lives in the Fountain Valley area to order another rear roll pan. He was rear ended yesterday while cruisin around H.B. he says the cat is messed up pretty good. Don't know how fast the othercar was going. I will find out all the details tomorrow. That makes #3 in a week.

Butchee, Not my car! One of the other SoCal guys.

Here are some pics of the new car Phil.

The front bumpers are already off and the chrome grill is already in. The Carlini chrome a-arm covers and turn signal fairngs are on hold and sitting on a shelf for right now as I have a dream project that is pending. If my idea works, I'll not need the Carlini covers and fairings. Jim Angle has first dibs on those parts and I know that he's really hoping my idea works. I'm trying to get it done in time for The Crazy Horse 2001 Run but time's already getting short. My sheet metal guy is very busy and for some reason would prefer to do paying work instead of the fun stuff. Check out his website www.themetalguy.com when you get a chance. He's quite an artist and even has a public television 13 show series about metalworking and blacksmithing. VERY Talented guy!

The Cat looks great Larry, but then, you do have the best color! Did you paint the rear part of the grill black like JD, of is is straight from the chromer?

Larry,
I LOVE the flames on your car!!! They are great. Makes me want to do something to mine, but until, I have a paved road in front of my house, its not worth the time and money to do anything like that. Have fun with it.

Rich,
If I get to Woodward this year, I'll need to fly. I haven't said no yet but it looks doubtful at this time.

Jay,
The rear bumpers are coming off as soon as I get my new rear roll pan made. Thanks for your offer though.

Butchee,
The grill is not painted black. The sun was behind the car and it just looks that way.

Carol,
Thanks for the compliments. I always have fun with it. Hurry up and pave that road!

CJ,
Thank you! I'm hoping to have some major changes done in time for Crazy Horse that I think you and Bob will really like. A lot of ideas and too little time but I'm trying.

Everyone,
What's the verdict on the painted rear bumpers? I'm still not sure if I like them or not. They were painted when I bought the car. What's your honest opinion?

Well, if the front bumpers can be painted, why not the rear? Monochromatic!!!! If you are going to leave all the bumpers on, they should be the same color. Or are you taking off the front ones? Not sure how that would look with just rear bumpers painted. I say leave them yellow and leave them all on!!!

Larry, I like the rears painted and remove the fronts... Of course I could be prejudice.
