As most of you read in a previous post, I discovered a "hard steer" problem on the way from TSW. Many of you responded with a few ideas on what it might be. I have a story for you!!!!!! Today started out as a beautiful day and my little angel needed to go to the clinic to have her little toe looked at. She stubbed it last week and it was looking infected. We get up this morning and head to the clinic that is on my health plan which is about 20 miles away. All is great. Traffic is clear. Weather is wonderful so the top is down and we kick it up to 70-75 all the way there. She is fine and we return safely home after picking up some medicine. We decide were giong to hook up the little jet boat and head to the car wash to clean the vehicles up. The jet boat is about 200 lbs with the toung weight lite enough that my 8 yr old can hook it up. No problem, right? WRONG!!!! I head out the subdivision and make a left on a busy 4 lane rd. My BALL JOINT on the left frt comes completely OUT of the lt lower control arm damaging the wheel control arm and fender. Here's where the crap is scared out of me. I have my ONLY child in the passenger seat. The only HEAVEN in my life, and Im in a car I feel safe and sound in!! What would have happened if were were doing the 70-75 as we were earlier and this happened? It was bad enough we were on a BUSY 4 lane rd! I couldnt go anywhere! I was stuck right there. Just so happened my neighbor was ridding his 4 wheeler in the field next to the road and saw us. He towed the jetboat to the house while I waited for the cops to secure us til the tow truck arrived. What an ordeal! I was so shaken and upset with the fact that my daughter was with me and the speed we were going earlier.....I dont know where to vent this right now but here and its a darn good thing D/C is not open for me to chew on. There was one other time that I know of this happening and it was told to me in response to my previous post. I had planned on telling the dealer about the previous ball joint when I took it in for the rack to be installed just so they could check it out. Kat owners BEWARE!!! The lives of your family and you, as well as others could be in danger!! Send this to D/C so they can investigate......In my opinion, this is much more SERIOUS than any frame recall!!! I will let ALL of you know the results from my ordeal and D/C's opinion on the matter and what is resolved. As Dan "the man" says, "God is Good" and I guess our time is not too near? |

Wow,,,, so glad you made it ok, and your child was not hurt. Keep us posted on the rest, but the good thing is no one injured. ------------------ |

WOW-glad you got away unscathed. It's obvious what could have happened at speed. The ball joint must have been put in dry and was locked up and been spinning in the a-arm. Make sure that the arm is replaced if the fit is loose. Guess you'll get first class treatment at your dealer from now on if you make enough noise. Curious to see what they say! ------------------ |
