No really.... Kinda of a funny story here (or maybe you had to be there). I was going home down the 126 just about ready to turn up main street (were I told the delivery driver to park) and I get a call on my cell... "Hey Cliff - do I make a right on Citrus View?" - I told him to hang on for a second and I would lead him to the house... I come up in front of him and turn right and what do I see out of the corner of my eye????? a CHP coming right at me. Now remember, the car is in an enclosed truck - can't see what is in it. The driver turns behind me and the CHP follows the truck. I park and the driver parks and the CHP cruises by slowly looking at me... I wave and smile - anyway, he comes back about 15 minutes later and cruises by the other way. I told the driver - "They can sniff these things out even in a covered trailer!" About an hour later, after I had washed it and got the mud guards on it - a Ventura County Sheriff drives by.... Okay I say - now they know where I live! Remember this town only has about 1200 people in it - and 1 Prowler. I LOVE the car, love the autostick, it is giving me motivation to do my physical therapy (knee replacement in January) so I can bend my leg to get in - AND EDDDDDDD..... I don't need a booster seat hahahahahahhaha. I couldn't help but drive it to work today.... soooooooooooo fine! This message has been edited by cwatsonjr on 03-29-2001 at 12:02 PM |

Great story Cliff..I would guess that in 6mos you can write a book. Everyday that you take it out, even in town of 1200, somebody will see a the Prowler for the 1st time. Congrats ------------------ This message has been edited by MIKE GATLIN on 03-29-2001 at 12:00 PM |

It was sooo funny to see the boys faces - I wish I would have had the video camera ready - but I had just finished drying the car when I heard their voices around the corner(10 yr olds can be rather loud). So I stood in the driveway so I could see them when they rounded the corner. They were not together so it was one at a time. David stopped dead in his tracks, his jaw dropped and he came trotting over and asked if it was ours... He yelled for Mike and he came running - got to the corner, stopped dead in his tracks, dropped all the stuff in his hands (he had 2 of his friends walking with him, I think all them dropped their stuff) and stood there with his jaw dropped. He picked up his stuff and came trotting over and they both quickly inspected the car! It was great - Kodak moments. David, of course, asked if I would drive him to baseball practice in it - I told him that "of course I would." I took Michael for a spin in an area where they are going to build new homes, so the street and sidewalks are there, but the rest is dirt (no nails in the road - construction hasn't started) - there is a nice tight S - funnnnn. I guess they went out into the garage this morning to look at the car and found out I had taken it to work and promptly complained to Mom - hah. ------------------ |

I've owned faster cars. I've owned more expensive cars. But none have given me the pleasure that owning this car has. This is truely the most gratifying vehicle I've ever owned. Now if I could just take it to the store or a resturant and not worry about who is doing what to it. ------------------ |

Hey, Cliff, it's going to be smile after smile after smile! Prowlership is one of those things that dying people wish they'd done or owned in their lifetimes..only now, you don't have to wish! You've done it! ------------------ |

I made sure that I told Eric Lee (at Latham Motors) and Mike (the delivery guy) that they were making a dream come true. This is a car I have dreamed of owning since I first saw the concept version at the autoshow. Everyone here is great too - it has made the process of finding one, purchasing it and even owning it(all 2 days now) more gratifying. I really look forward to meeting as many of you as possible through the years. Funny thing happened yesterday as I was driving home - a guy in a tan van waved at me and I was wondering if it was a Prowler owner in disguise - it is hard to look at everyone that looks at you but I was sure to wave at a child that was eying the car over really good at a stop light - put a on his face. I had backed it into my garage for the day (I had to take the boys to scouts - Durango time) and had walked into the house when I heard some tires screech out in front - I went to the front door and one of my neighbors (down the street) and hit his brakes hard when he saw the car in the garage and had his head hanging out the window.... I think I am going to have to keep the garage door closed to keep accidents from happening in front the house Yes - I am going to enjoy this vehicle immensely but I think I am going to enjoy it more when I get to go cruisin' with other prowler owners and get to see what they have done to their cars! ------------------ |

Cliff- Congrats, better get used to it. I have been pulled over several times, not for doing anything wrong(that they could have witnessed) but nothing more than just to get a close up! Even had a Dallas officer chase me down with lights and sirens just to wallow! As everyone here has told you, get over being any bit shy, cause it's just the beginning! ENJOY and be SAFE! ------------------ |

Cliff, A big congratulations. I know exactly how you feel. I never thought I would be so blessed to own a Prowler. Even when it happened I was in disbelief. It's been 9 months now and I still find it hard to believe. I'll share one story with you. My wife and I took the Prowler through Skyline drive in the Shenandoah National Park. Its about a 100 mile drive through the mountain tops with scenic overlooks and rest areas every few miles. Everywhere we stopped it was a circus but the last time we stopped at one of the overlooks just before dusk a car locked up its brakes and then swerved into the rest area. We were the only car there. The doors of the other car flew open and a man and his wife jumped out and ran over to the Prowler. They stood there 10 minutes without moving or talking, just gawking. They didn't even notice my wife and I watching them from a few yards away. Finally the man looks around and comes over to me and asks if the car was mine. We talked and he said he was from Sweden but was over here because his daughter had married an American and just gave birth to his first grandchild. I could tell this man was very wealthy. He asked how many hundred thousand American dollars I paid to have this car built. When I told him it was a production car and what I paid for it he looked absolutely shocked and at the same time hurt. He said he couldn't understand why he had never seen anything like this in Europe. He told his wife to get the camera and they shot two rolls of film. He didn't want to leave but she finally dragged him away. My guess is that whatever the cost, he has one now. |
