I have a silver 2001 that now has 114 miles on it. I notice that the shift from 1st to 2nd, in drive, seems a little rough. Is this normal?

Is there any brake-in proceedure that anyone recomends? The book is kind of vauge about this part of the ownership experience.

Thanks,

Welcome to ProwlerOnline

In auto stick it will shift harder. If you leave it in drive the shifts should soften up a bit. I think that's why they have a firm shift is to give you a sporty feeling. I love it.

The shifts will soften up with age.

Personally I wouldn't call it rough, how about aggressive?

It makes the car more sporty.

I have found if you are driving slow (normal driving like residential area) the Autostick shifts are rough. If you are constantly accelerating and shifting, the shifts are smooth. Otherwise, DON"T keep a steady speed and shift in autostick.

Welcome to the site

I have `99 with 13,000 miles

It has a very FIRM shift from 1st to 2nd. It is normal and will not change. I have disconnected my Battery several times and this makes the computer go thru it's memory mode, I run it very hard after disconnect and seems to make it run better. Baby it it thinks it is a baby. Run it hard and it thinks it is a HOT ROD.

It is a retro hot rod and that is how a hot rod with auto should shift.

The car was designed to shift aggressively especially when using the autoshift. I personally like this as opposed to the silky shift of my wife's Lexus.
