12.7498...104.87 12.9372...112.78 12.7167...109.03 13.0249...106.88 spun tires 13.4669...102.48 heat soaked, back to back runs. This was the red light run so I guess this one doesn't count. Best 1.8660 60ft time, this is not 0-60 time. I was never able to power brake and punch it for any of these runs. The Dunlops do not work for a drag strip application. I truly believe I would be able to run 12.5 if the car would have hooked up all the way. Next time. We need to get together out here in Carlsbad, CA at their strip to do somemore testing and tuning. Who is up for it? This message has been edited by Gary C on 03-23-2001 at 12:08 PM |

Gary, We need to make up a roster or an Elimination type sheet. I don't want to run for just ET's or mph. I want to see on every run someone racing someone. Hope you know what I'm talking about!! LAter... ------------------ |

Geeeeeeez, Dan, it didn't take you long to turn into an Extrovert!!! You must have really been paying attention to my lessons!!! Maybe you should go borrow the Paxton car to race.......... My Bob talked to Bob Wyman today and he said to tell you hello!!! He had a great time and wants to do it again. Give the Paxton guys a call if you are going to race in California. |

Maybe the best thing to do is everyone design they're own, that way no one but yourself will have the liability. Thanks for the reminder. I will be build something for me to get through tech, save my life not worried about it, do I do anything half @$$? |

Is there a standard for roll bars, or does each track/strip have their own specs? I would think they would still have some liability involved? This message has been edited by CJ on 03-24-2001 at 06:43 AM |

yes, there are specs as to how the bars should be made. I would suggest anyone going to the trouble use the correct tubing, size and specifications for the speed you expect the car to go. ------------------ |

Gary, it is something I would feel more comfortable going to someone in the business about. But I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Half @$$?, well, if I remember there was a time you took your car to a guy up in?? then there the was the time when, let me think. Nah, never mind,, Anyway, I spoke a while back about this and should have followed but didn't realize my cat would SOOOO FASTTT so soon. I would really like one that could be removed easily when not in use and does not cut into the car noticeably ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 03-24-2001 at 08:55 AM |

Hey now Gary, your not fast enough to need a roll bar. You should work on putting all the hp to the ground. Your times above are real slow for that much hp. I offered you to use my slicks at the drags last Fri. What good is all that hp if you cant run better than a 12.7??? |

You cannot race legally at any NHRA track/race with our cars if you run 13.99 or quicker and do not have a rollbar. |

NHRA roll bar requires a six point attachment. Forward bracing inbetween the shoulder and elbow, and rearward bracing from 4"down from the top of the bar back. Too much cutting for me and it would make an already hard to get in car almost impossible with the top up. Guess my testing is going to be G-Tech or the nostalgia events where they look the other way. ------------------ |

Actually, NHRA Gen Reg 4.10 calls for a 5 point rollbar, which includes the side bar. The side bar can also be a "swing out" style to help ease vehicle entry. On our cars, the rollbar has to be welded or bolted to the frame. Maximum of 6 inches from roll bar to driver's helmet. Maximum of 5 inches from top of roll bar to brace. All materials must be 1 3/4 inch O.D. x .118 inch mild steel or .083 inch 4130 chrome moly tubing except the cross bar which is somewhat smaller. A good race shop could make one that passes all necessary rules and bolts out easily, but I am unclear how we would make the rear braces work properly. This type of bar is mandatory in convertibles running 11.00 to 13.99. |
