I removed the bumpers off the back of my Cat. I have thought about it all winter what color I want to paint them. The Purple chromalusion drops off the back just above the bumpers, with the orange flames around the purple. I was all set to have them painted Purple, then decided Black would be best. But as I removed the bumper and the Purple changing to Royal blue in the garage looks so cool Now I'm back to I don't know. Do you think the Chromalusion would stand out so much to take away from the rest of the car? Should I paint them black and have the graphics brought down on the bumpers? Paint them Black and install my chrome shimmers and forget it because I cannot see it when I'm driving it? ------------------ |

Larry, I ran to your scrap book to take a look at the back of your cat and guess what, no pictures of the trunk?? Just by the description you gave you have two options. One go with JD's suggestion since you have removed the front bumpers. Two, black with yellow shimmers. I like the bumpers, so I'd go with two. If you show it a lot at shows maybe one would be better. Well now you have me confused Your cat is the bomb no matter which you pick. Wish I had your problem. ------------------ |

I didn't make a suggestion because I also didn't see the rear of your car. I like the no bumper thing-I'll probably go with the real rod settup also--nice and clean and doesnt stick too far under the car as some other rear pans do-an air grabber.I was going to make a set of custom nerfs, but couldn't come up with a good looking design to go with the big holes left by tye stock bumper removal. Looks good JD ------------------ |

Without a good look at the rear, I think I agree with VT Prowler....black bumpers w/yelo shimmers.....or no bumpers at all....I just don't like the sound of painting them body color....think they look better when they disappear a little more... ------------------ |

Larry, who did the paint design? If he or she doesn't have a suggestion, I'll ask several design people that I respect. I'll need a good color correct picture of the rear of the car. A three quarter rear/side shot would also help. Congratulations on the model car. Not many people have been honored that way. Kind of makes all of the ISCA show pain worth while. |

Thanks Butchee, Real Rod makes two types. The other with the lights closer to the license plate with white lenses I think. I just looked at the pic, its a old one. I now have two awesome OBX resonators sticking out for pipes and even my license is different KOOL2K That is why the pics is so big, I took it before I learned more. Sorry. Thanks for the replies. Yes, I should have posted picture of the rear. I think I will paint black and then end up with the graphics coming down later with some chromalusion. I have only seen one rear pan I like and I don't know who's it is. The real problem is the exhaust if I remove the pan. Thanks John for the photo of the rear of yours. It is the 1st I've seen with hitch and modified rear pan. ------------------ |

Larry, another pan that looks good is the Carlini. It has a big grill in the middle and covers the trans cooler. Gary has this one. http://www.prowleronline.com/carimage/RedCatRear.jpg ------------------ |

Larry, why not take a couple of the models out of the package and paint the bumpers on them to see how they look? The one you like the best is the right color. Saturday, I talked to my cousin, who is the Ky. Speedway owner's lawyer. He told me he passed on my request to Marc Cassis who is the GM, I think. Haven't heard back about doing laps there. I will continue to look into it. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 03-19-2001 at 08:17 PM |
