I find that there is so much dust in the air that even after washing and waxing my Black Cat it still looks dusty the next day when all I've done is park it in my garage. I have a new garage door with a good seal. What I need is a nice soft car cover made of cotton like a bed sheet. Something very light and easy to put on. I have the Mopar cover for outdoor use but it's too stiff and awkward for just a quick cover up. Does anyone have any ideas? Does the factory cover soften up if you wash it? If so, does it then lose any of it's water proof protection? ------------------ |

James.....I also have a black cat (99) and I also have the same dust problem when the cat is sitting in the garage. I don't find the Mopar cover to be objectionable to put on. Probably doesn't take much longer to put on than any other. How long have you had the cover and how often do you use it? Mine seems to be pretty flexible and now I have a system to put it on that takes me no time at all. I will leave the car uncovered during the day for use and usually cover it up for the night, dusting it first. Have never tried washing it, doesn't really get dirty. Shake it out to keep the dust off. |

James, put your cover up to your mouth and trying blowing though the material. If you can feel air coming through it, it's not going to stop dust. I have had a poly/cotton cover on a previous collector car and it was pathetic at stopping fine dust. You need a breathable fabric like Evolution 4 or something comparable to keep the dust to a minimum. I have my car wintering in a condo garage where 30 cars a day come and go out the door each day. Using MOPAR's Prowler cover, I can't find ANY dust on the surface even after 30-45 days being covered. Yes, it's stiffer but it really works. If you blow through the material, it's convenient but worthless. Also consider that if something drops on your car from above, you've got a lot better chance of avoiding damage with a slightly thicker cover than with cotton or poly/cotton. ------------------ |

your car never gets dirty CJ? By what miracle do you manage that? I drive a mile and my black is dirty! ------------------ |

James, I also have a black cat and use the MOPAR Prowler cover. It fits perfect and looks good. I do get a little dust around the bottom of the front wheel covers where the cover does not touch, I think this is unavoidable. As for ease of use, I hooked up a pulley and rope above the center of the car and just fold up the cover and pull it up to drive, then just drive under it and drop it down and fold it out when needed. Works good! ------------------ |

I have used a King size fitted flannel sheet as a quick and easy cover when the top is down. It hooks over the rear bumpers and the side rear-view mirrors with the elastic. A great fit. If I want to cover the front, I use the flat sheet over the hood and tuck it under the fitted one across the windshield. I believe this works with the top up as well. Try two fitted sheets, front and rear, can work too. My sheet is plaid pattern and people have said it looks cool and like a factory option. I use it at work on nice days when the top is down just on the back half and over the interior. It works good to keep the leather cool, the dust out, and holds up in light wind with the elastic fit. ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

Todd.......I didn't say my car didn't get dirty, I said the cover doesn't. My car does get dusty when driving around and sitting in the garage. I keep towels and quick detail in the car for quick touch-ups when I get to my destinations. But my car doesn't really get dirty. It has only been in the rain twice (both were Prowler events). I work hard to make sure it stays clean and dust free. |

I have 3 cars covered with different type covers, the mopar car is the best I have and the others are no less/more harder to put on. Get a California duster, do as the instructions say to prep before you use it and dust it off before or after driving. Been using mine for years and love it. ------------------ |

I am experiencing the same cosmic dust on my Mulholland...I had a 2000 Silver Kat and never had a problem..this "sparkle" dust seems to accumulate more on the rear end and actually shines like a metallic dust in the sunlight..it is very bizarre.. ------------------ |

It was probably there with the silver, but you didn't see it. Welcome to the world of dark color cars! The blue is beautiful. Check out the composition of the road materials. Probably using Mike K's old silver money for paving! ------------------ |

Leon, your sparkle is from the carbon fiber from the Borla tips. My understanding of these tips, it should go away as they get some miles on them. ------------------ |
