Hello. As you can tell, I'm brand new to this forum. I'm a 19 year old male in search of a new car. I fell in love with the Prowler after the first time I saw one, but was afraid to search for its price. After seeing its inhumanly affordable sticker price, I am REALLY considering a test drive and purchase. I am into car audio and currently have two twelve inch subwoofers that require about 1.5 cubic feet of airspace in the box. I was wonndering if anyone had any experience with fitting a custom box for subs into the super-small trunk. I'm trying to dig up some pics of the trunk itself...not much luck though. I live in Memphis,TN...just thinking about the looks one would get in this town for driving that gets me excited!!! Thanks for reading. Sincerely, Chris |

Chris, I recently installed a 15" woofer in my Prowler. I originally had installed a 12" but wanted the deeper bass of a 15". The 15" speaker wouldn't fit height-wise installed in the box, so I had to cut a hole in the bottom of the box to allow for the magnet to go through the bottom. It fits perfectly and sounds incredible. The stock woofer is I think about 6.5" and can't come near the sound that a 15" will. It has so much more depth and the bass is much deeper. I ran the wires from the stock sub bridged to a 200 watt amp so there is no need for a crossover. Below are some pics. No way to put that into the door somehow or in back of the seats? What about those lil speakers made by that one company (I forget the name, too early in the AM here) for their surround sound system, they are TINY< but they really crank out the sound better then anything I have ever heard. ------------------ |

Todd, you neeed large cone area to get good low freq response. Frankly, I dont get it, but maybe I'm getting old! I find it an assault on my space when someone with sub's blasting shakes my car and is two cars away. Didn't we have a law at one time restraining this? Maybe I should buy into hearing aid stock as this will probably be a big need after these guys get older. This is no joke--plug your ears for a day and see how you do-this is your future. Oh, I hate it when you feel someone else's bass, too. I have the subs just to bring out the deep notes....not BOOM BOOM. I'll definitely make use of the speaker locations everywhere else in the Prowler.....dang, 7 speaks??? Where are they all?? |

Hi Chris, Welcome to ProwlerOnline. I think that you picked a good time to buy a Prowler, as many of them are selling at or below sticker. Do your homework and shop around. As for the sound system upgrade, here is another installation that might interest you: http://www.prowleronline.com/glennadventure.php ------------------ |

Hey, Chris, welcome to the site. I know of a product made by Fahrenheit called a Neo Woofer that has a "reversed" magnet. The bulk of the magnet structure is placed in front, rather than in back of the subwoofer cone. The result is that you can use either their 10" or 12" woofer in spaces as shallow as 3" for the 10" and 3.75" for the 12". Power handling 400 and 500 watts respectively for the increasing diameters. They do also make very large woofers but with coventional deep magnet structures, too. I have catalogs from the company if you need more data. Just let me know. ------------------ |
