A friend of mine has a '99 viper Engine from a Crash, its in perfect condition. Would this fit into my 2000 prowler, what mods would need to be done, and how much do you think it will cost? Is it even possible???

The V 10 is alot longer than the V 6.

Anything is possible but do you want to lenghten the frame and nose of the car. I think this would be the only way to make it work.

Quite simply, no....too much size difference.....and the Prowler frame is aluminum...the Viper frame looks like it is made from steel I-Beams in comparison...too much torque for the Prowler frame...probably would be easier and cheaper to build a street rod with the Viper drivetrain and then put a Prowler looking body on it....anyway you go you are in for a MEGABUCK operation...a couple of years ago Lingenfelter Racing was working on a Vette V8 in a Kat...keep in mind when you see a Viper the entire front end of the car is engine...the tranny is also a large item and necessary for the V10....no place for it in a Kat....many many problems...again, anything is possible, just depends on how much you want to spend...I bet you could own a Viper and a Prowler for less money than a combination of the two...

What is the latest on the Lingenfelter V8 for the Kat??
I once wanted to send my vette to Reeves Calloway, didn't
do it and I regretted it. Do you know a website for them?

The Ligenfelter car was completed and shipped to Chip Foose. He constructed unique front control arms which moved the wheels forward. The grille was constructed to look like a '33 Plymouth with the hood modified to lay it back. Rear fenders were extended and a rear pan added.

The car has a complete Corvette C5 power train with rear mounted transaxle. It was the black Prowler shown at SEMA in Chip's booth. I didn't spend a lot of time with it, but from first inspection was the quality job you would expect from Ligenfelter. The car is owned by a wealthy businessman.

Too bad you didn't modify your Vette as you wanted. A friend called me several months ago. He had just taken delivery of his modified 383 C5 from Lingenfelter. He was too happy for words and was calling all of his friends. He was sure that it was now as fast a Viper! I did the math in my head, original price of the C5, doing without it for 90 days during the summer and $28K to John, he could have bought the real thing!

That's the beauty of cars. You can do whatever you want and enjoy it. There's lots of different ways to do the same thing. Everyone has their own opinion. Isn't America great?

If someone wants to get really kinky, Chuck Lombardo of California Street Rods and Keith Crain from Automotive News tried very hard to get me to help them with a project, put a Hemi crate motor in a Prowler. Chuck was confident that he could either do it as a front engine/manual trans or front engine/rear transaxle using a C5 Vette transaxale.

A couple quick 'adds' to this thread ...

First, skip Lingenfelter and go straight to Mallett in Ohio ... friends just got their '99 fixed roof vette back from him and not only a High Quality job, but will blow the doors off a '96 Viper GTS (we know, we did it!. Plus, all his work is warrantied by GM and is in harmony to the original factory warranty. VERY impressive power and scarry!

Second, saw the Lingenfelter Kat at SEMA alaso, didn't realize all the body mods that were done because the car looked VERY original as it sat there. Engine compartmentwas fully consumed by engine, which would lead me to say ... no way in heck a V10 would fit .. but again, with any amount of money anything is possible.

Lastly, also from SEMA, they had a street rod 'package' at the MOPAR booth that essentially was a very beefy tube frame chasis and a Viper V10 power plant attached ... didn't ask price, would be too rich for my blood anyhow.

Hope that helps our friend who is thinking the unthinkable that started this thread ...oh, and GOOD LUCK!
