Ok guys...help me out here.....i am tryin to decide what i want to do first to my car....all of my options i like but im not sure what i should spend my money on first...so why dont you guys give me your opinion...

1. Remove front bumpers and put in relocated turn signal $600

2. Prowler Pro rear end gears
$2050

3. Mopar Performance Exhaust
$800

4. 15" Subwoofer and 600W AMP in the trunk w/ customizing
$1500

5. Cold Air Intake System
$150

6. Trans cooler cover
$200

7. Suspension braces
Ill make my own...lol

8. Prowler Hardtop from TGF
$3000

9. Neon undercar light kit and interior setup
$150

I know that the prices range and vary but they are within my price range for something to do. The only two things that i doubt but want are the Gears and Hardtop b/c they cost sooooo much. I figure i want to spend around $1500 on some upgrades w/ the exception of the above noted. So what do you guys think i should go and do first?

Jason.....

Your question must have evoked this week's poll...appearance vs. performance. Good question.

In my opinion, you must ask yourself why did you buy the prowler? Appearance of performance?

Appearance seems to be the primary attraction to the prowler. I agree with Alley Cat, appearance before performance. Get it looking fine, then tune the ride.

Note: If you want real performance, buy a sports or muscle car, and keep the prowler as the cruiser everyone looks at and admires.

Jason, I too agree that initially you'll want to make that cat more unique than an identical cat that you'll see at a car show this spring. Go for a cool pinstripe, a chrome grill, TGF door panels or headrest covers, or a weekender to carry gear in. Just some thoughts.

Al - don't tell the guy gears first, you can't get off Long Island or beat Super Dan's Nova yet.

He has to LOOK SHARP, then BE SHARP.

My favorite # is 7 twice.

Eight too much!

Forget about the garbageman-way too fast for me to catch--mid 12s will do me just fine, with air cond, stereo, heat, and all the stuff he doesn't have. Watch that overeating Larry. Yum Yum

If I had to choose, Jason, appearance would come first. However, there is nothing wrong with leaving your car stock, either!! That way you don't have to spend any money!!!!

Given you're on a budget and neutral on looks vs speed, Carlini Trans Cover is a Yes. Then maybe a stereo but the stock stereo, if you play all original digitally recorded CD's and dont listen to the radio, is acceptable and doesn't require replacement in my syncopated drummer opinion (I've tapped a few high hats over the years).
Then perhaps the exhaust-at least it will sound better-sound is ok to begin with but can be made better. I dont have the PP gears because they are toooooooo expensive (its the principle of the matter) and I want Butchee and GaryC, pretty knowledgeable on techy car issues who actually drive their Prowlers, to tell me the gears wont screw up my tranny/car via lockout, etc.

You should get Carlini's head rest covers. Pretty sharp for the money. But at the end of the day I dont think you can be neutral on speed vs looks. PP Gears-ahhhhh, I just cant bring myself to say "do it" j u s t n o w. As summer time approaches I might do it myself but I doubt it-that or a $50M Luxury Sport V 23' 375 hp Malibu boat.

NP-thanks for the vote of confidence. I can't say that the gears wont cause damage over the long run as I only have 1k miles on them, but I think the only problems I'll encounter are self inflicted ones as it's hard to keep my foot out of it now!! A really BIG difference to me, and I'm not sorry even if they do seem overpriced--Key word "SEEM". Dean has put over 10K on his Cat with this settup as well as nitrous, and all is still together. His concerns were the half shafts
breaking, but Dan and John are testimony as to the strength of them. 5500 and wham-Screeeeeeeeeeeech

Jason: I would go with appearance mods first. Personally it was the front bumpers that went first, that is my recommendation. Get rid of the bumpers.

Jason,

Look at my car in scrapbook and you will know Why I say this.

Budget minded and with $$$$ you have in mind of spending

MY TWO CENTS

1.Tom Mills bumper kit $600
on my car

6. Trans cooler cover $250

9. Neon lights $150~250

and I would also add Chrome stock grill $400 but looks great in Orange car, see picture of Jerry's Orange car at Dream Cruise with chrome grill

Chrome Carlini head rest covers if you can get them about $250

Shimmers (chrome) $75

I have stock grill that has been chromed by Custom Coating in Tallahassee, FL. and also my exterior door handle lifts. I am planning on getting Carlini Headrest covers if they are available still.

pinstripe tape $15 or less, this will do until you can get painted on if you like the look. Fred's looks great and he has tape on it

and last but not least plenty of clean rags and a tube of semi chrome to polish the frame

if you choose the performance route instead, I would say, even though I don't have them yet, the Gears from Dean would be the best improvement for the money. Yes they are expensive, but you cannot get them anywhere else.

Or do as some do Drive it stock and ENJOY IT

Jason,

I would go with appearence first, but leave the bumpers on please. I prefer the bumpers.

I would go with the trans cooler cover by Carlini and while you are at it add their mini-rear belly pan, $450. Saw it on the web site and I am thinking about it. Finally go wih the Borla exhaust, and shimmers. You could do all these things in your price range and get a real nice rear end. Personally I'm a rear man

Al won't be able to take his eyes off your rear, forget blowing your doors off
