I believe Daimler - Chrysler should not have changed the name of the car until its production has ended. What good will it do them? I feel it is irresponsible to the present owners of the car. Would any other auto manufacturer do this - a Buick Allero? It will leave a bad taste in my mouth for many years to come.

Just my opinion, what is yours?

Honestly, it really makes no difference at all to me...was never fond of the Plymouth image from when I was a kid....I was always a Dodge fan....the Prowler is still the same car what ever name it has now...would have been disappointed to see it labeled a Dodge more than a Chrysler....

It doesn't bother mee too much. I'm glad the choice was to lable it as part of the Chrysler line vs. Dodge.

I still say Plymouth Prowler has more of a ring to it then Chrysler Prowler... and yes, people can and do pay good money for a name all the time. Think Harley Davidson, Think Armani, think Polo Ralph Lauren.

The decision to drop Plymouth from the lineup was made long before Daimler took over. Personally,. I disagree with the renaming of the car. If anything, they should have just called it Prowler. To label as a Chrysler was really short sighted. As a loyal Mopar fan, I won't be buying anything from Daimler anymore. Ma Mopar died when the Germans took over....Merger?? Who do they think they were kidding?

Having owned at least 100 cars & trucks, one day I was thinking of what cars I have had. It came as a surprise just how many PLYMOUTHS I have owned. Just by luck. My 1st car was a Plymouth. I still love the old Plymouths.

I seen a `68 Fury yesterday being driving in Winter Haven, Florida. It was in good shape and I thought what a nice old car. I also saw a few 50 something Desoto's over the weekend. I guess we will always remember the Plymouth. We just will not be able to walk into a Plymouth dealer and order/purchase a new Plymouth. The Prowler is the only REAL PLYMOUTH they have made in some time.

Plymouth was to be an entry level car, but the auto manufacturers have lost site of this. NOT JUST Chrysler. They all wanted the same cars so they would sell as many as the next brand. Also if they cannot sell 150,000 of one model a year, why bother, building it additude.

Now they are all dropping models and brand names to hold market share. If they had kept to the move up thru the brands additude the Desoto, Imperial & Plymouth might still be part of the Chrysler lines.

The last Plymouth will be shipped soon out of the CAAP. We should have a moment of silence, THEN GET ON WITH OUR LIVES. It is just a name and the car will still be just as cool.

My 2 Cents

I understand that DC has always marketed the DODGE Viper as a CHRYSLER Viper in Europe - so - this is not new to DC

Chrysler Prowler, Chrysler Prowler, Chrysler Prowler!
Say it three times, you'll be spitting all over the place.
The name does not flow off your tongue.

This cool exotic, one of a kind automobile should retain
the name that it was born with.

Absolutely correct about the Viper being a Chrysler in Europe.....Believe there was some problem with the Dodge name being used there...was not just a DC choice ...

How about Prowler a Daimler/Chrysler product, which is what I think they are looking for. This would explain the absence of the Chrysler name from the rear bumper.

Hey does anyone know what the new hood emblem looks like--I hate the Plymouth ship?

To me its always been a "Prowler".

An Armani Prowler? Interesting....

I too like Plymouth Prowler better. Had more of a ring to it.

The hood emblem still has the same shape...just the ship is missing and a round Chrysler emblem in its place....small and difficult to recognize what it is....I was hoping at least there would be a set of wings on the hood.....you must look close to see the difference....

Tangled up in Blue.....it might be my era with Plymouth rather than yours. Your comment about the Plymouth image and you not being fond of it as a kid.....I personally see it differently. For me, I have memories of high performance, kick in the arse, Roadrunners, GTX's, Superbirds, Cudas, and Richard Petty wins driving Plymouth stock cars. If those images don't leave you with memories of greatness and power, perhaps you were born after 1960. For me, the hero in my junior-year high school class was the one with a brand new '68 PLYMOUTH Roadrunner. It's a shame to see it the brand go away, but that's Chrysler's fault. They let it die due to neglect.

I remember as a kid several neighbors owning very early 50's Plymouths, business coupes I believe they were...as a small boy I hated the big ugly round Plymouths....even today, the Plymouth name instantly takes me back to those ugly cars the neighbors owned...one was a light green and the other was a light blue the lady painted black with a paint roller and a brush(helped her do it)....that is what the Plymouth name reminds me of...I have owned a Superbird, but I had several Daytonas...I have owned many 'Cudas(340,440,440 6-BBL and AAR's), but way more Challengers including Hemis and about 30 Challenger T/A s....have owned Road Runners, but way more Chargers....the first GTX I ever saw was an 80 year old neighbor came home with a new 67....he bought it because he liked the color...really had no idea what he was sitting on....it just always seemed I was drawn to the Dodge brand instead of the Plymouth....I really never liked to think about Cudas etc even being Plymouths....still had that image of the Clipper ship from when I was a kid ...probably me just being nuts, but thats why I never liked the image...even today, I have Vipers...they are Dodges...I also have Prowlers, but they are not a Plymouth in my mind...they are just Prowlers....personally, I am glad to see them become Chryslers...that is an upgraded image over a Plymouth to me....just all those ugly Plymouths I saw when I was a kid I guess

Just a thought for all you Prowler owners. Did you ever think the value of you Plymouth Prowler just went up? You won't be able to get them anymore. The colors of the Plymouth Prowler isn't available on any other Chrysler Products, another Plus. The first Chrysler Prowler will be in a color you can get on a Minivan. Your investment in your Prowler should increase.
