Well, I've finally given up on our Black-Tie. It shakes and rattles and sqweeks at almost any speed. Mulitple trips to different dealers didn't seem to help much. The door on our 2000 Silver would never sit right. They are a great looking car but the quality of the two I've owned was just sub par and it always seemed I knew more about the car then the dealers did. I guess I expected too much from the Black-Tie being limited and all. The noise was just too distracting. So, I got a good price for it and purchased a new 2001 Porsche cabriolet in speed yellow. I wish you all better luck with yours. Enjoy. Trey |

Trey-did your knob fall off the radio? I know how you feel. As much as it hurts to admit, these cars are not polished to the degree of the imports. While it's nice to profile with a cool car, it's inevitable that a car put together with rivets, glue and so many dissimilar materials will turn into a rattle box in time. Guess it wore you down. Good luck with the Porsche. ------------------ |

Trey, Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with the Prowler. Being from Houston, I would have to agree that there aren't many techs around here that seem to know much about the car. I would hope that you would still continue to drop by ProwlerOnline once in a while and share your friendship and past knowledge with others here!

Thanks all and I hope my experiences were the rarity. BTW-I saw a film of the 2003 Viper, and I might just be a mopar owner again..... Trey |

I do understand your feelings. I've had over $6,000 worth of warrenty work done my cat since mid "99". Fuel filler-New convertable top-Quarter panels & doors adjusted-front end rattled for mos.till fixed-fogged up headlights & taillights-tire went flat and more. I don't think anything else can go wrong--but if it does Chyrsler will fix it. Sometimes I think I'm pretty stupid to keep her--but I'm in like with Yellow cat. Best of luck Trey!!!!!!!! |

I understand where your coming from because I have a 2000 silver Prowler & its been in the shop numerous times. They are still trying to fix my major problem. It happens to be with the window seals for the soft top. The originals leaked. The replacements leak. My mechanic has tried to adjust the windows & it still leaks. What is really strange is that when the car sits outside in the rain, it LEAKS! When I drive it leaks. The only time it doesn't is when the soft top doesn't become saturated. |

HiHoSilver......I am sorry you have had such problems with your cat. I'm sure it has been frustrating for you. I guess I am fortunate that I haven't had any issues with mine. Wish you the best of luck, but don't go too far. Doesn't mean you can't continue posting on the board. CJ |

I could have lived with that though as these were never anything more then a perfect sunny day ride for a few hours. Take care and thanks all!!!!!! ------------------ |

FYI- No local Chrysler dealer would even consider the car (#005 with only 120 miles on it). Repeat, NONE. Porsche dealer could only get $43-44K from assorted dealers. We had no deal at that point. They finally got a call from a reseller in Calif who would pay $48K BUT only for a low number car. Ours being 005 cinched the deal. That also cinched the Porsche deal. This may just be this market or area but, something to keep in mind when negotiating your next car deal. Hope that is of some help and enjoy driving the wildest looking production car on the road (I still love the looks and miss the car.....) ------------------ |

Trey, where are you at again? That does not sound too good when a dealer will not even want a car that they sell! ------------------ |

quote: Houston, Texas area. Funny thing is that a local dealer here had a Black-Tie a few months back and was asking $75K for it. A number of dealers routinely ask in the $55K range for the regular ones. When I bought my 2000 silver it had a dealer tag on the windshield of $59K. I bought it for sticker (~$44K). I was a bit surprised that none the Porsche dealer contacted wanted it except the fact that they probably buy them new from Chrysler for upper $30's or low $40's. In any event it was a bit strange for a "limited" car and a low number one at that, to be shunned by the guys that sell them. Not sure what that says other then maybe the market here is a little flat for them right now. Don't get me wrong, I loved the lines of the car and the colors of the Black-Tie and I had planned on keeping that one forever but, mine was a rattletrap and not alot of fun to drive. Others seem to have better luck and that's a good thing. ------------------ |

Trey, sorry to hear about the rattle trap. Knock on cyber wood, my Woodward doesn't squeek or leak and I haven't had any problems with it whatsover. I hadn't started the car for over 5 weeks when Chicago had that blitz of snow and cold. Yesterday, my Cat started on the first try without me using a battery tender or charger. Enjoy your Porsche and good luck with your ventures. ------------------ |

Trey, I missed seeing you over the bridge in Seabrook. I live in Kemah and back in August and September was looking for a PP and learned a lot about them from this group. I looked at a silver one at a Porsche Dealer in Houston. They were more interested in selling me a Porsche. They really ignored me until my husband met me there. Then we got a sales person. This happened everywhere I went. I did end up buying a Woodward Edition in Austin. My hubby and I were very impressed how it did not Squeak, rattle and really the ride is rather nice. We did drive a 97 purple one and it had a terrible ride. The Austin dealership told me to take my car to River Oaks Chrysler for service. It had a bubble in the windshield and I finally got around to taking it in a couple of weeks ago. They treated me like a queen. LUV MY KAT jillypooo |
