Don't know if this is marketing hype rumor or the truth.... Got two calls from prowler owners telling me that the local dealers are telling people that the prowler is dead after 2001. Meaning....no Plymouth Prowler & no Chrysler Prowler. They were told the build out is done with the supplies they have now. Wondering if anyone knows what REALLY is happening for the 2002 year model? |

Joe, I asked CJ that question after reading your post on PPC and she said that it was "old news". Check for her reply on the "off topic" section of this site under " CJ, any truth in the rumor" ------------------ |

Hey Joe, I can't say for sure what's planned for the Prowler 2002 model year. I can say for sure that dealers and wishful thinkers alike have been hyping the demise of the Prowler since the beginning, yet the car continues year after year. I'll believe the end of the Prowler when I see it and when I see it I'll be sad. ------------------ |

From what I understand from CJ's response the Chrysler Prowler will be made. If true, the dealers are using fear tactics to sell cars again...by saying they canceled the "Chrysler Prowler". |

the car will be here for another year or so, is my understanding. And then the new toy comes out and you all will be looking for it ------------------ |

In my personal experience, most Chrysler dealers have not a clue about the Prowler, other then it exists, they just pretend to know to appear knowledgeable to try and sell you a car, if they even have one to sell. ------------------ |

Todd, I agree with you...I think we know more than the dealers, heck, my salesman never even got in the car or opened the hood as he was trying to sell it to me. So, I believe our contacts and friends are "in the know" more than the car dealers have been told. |

While I was at the SEMA Show I spoke with some contacts and they informed me that the Prowler would be built through the 2003 model year and possibly through 2006 if demand was there for the car. I can only say this was in general conversation and not a direct quote from DaimlerChrysler management, but from a very reliable source. ------------------ |

quote: My understanding was that the tooling for the Prowler could only handle 20K total over it's life. As far as dealers not understanding, I went to two local dealers when looking for a Black-Tie. They didn't have a clue and couldn't buy a vowel. Their GM didn't even know and had to look it up in some book. When the did find it, they took my name and number and said they'd call me first thing it the morning and let me know more. I bought mine out of state and am still waiting for that local call. My experience has always been that if you know a little bit about a model you are leagues above the sales staff. I once had a sales guy tell me that BMW copied the design of the thunderbird (older model) for their 6-series. Mind you, that 6-series model had been out for 3 years before the Thunderbird hit the showrooms. ------------------ |
