Gary, I had it done to mine and it was a big difference. Especially on 3rd gear. Before the TCM upgrade when I would be at around 90 miles an hour and then floored it to acheive 120 miles per hour. My cat went out of 4th gear lock up to 4th gear then downshift to 3rd gear and speed began to increase with alot of hesitation. It almost seemed like the tranny was shifting from 3rd gear to 3rd gear lockup. It could not make up it's mind whether to go into 3rd gear lock up or not. After the upgrade, 3rd gear will stay flat and not oscillate all the way up to 120. Definitely do it! Dealer upgrades with this diag prob- Here is their download station-

Thanks from me too Dan. Your descripton is exactly whats happening to my 2K, But I didn't notice it till after the gear change! Mine bangs 3rd fine but then kinda sllliiiiddddes into lockup! If we could defeat lockup with a switch, acceleration would be better. ------------------ |

The 2000 is the way that it is. The 1999 is fixable. ------------------ |

Mine is a very early 2000 model (I think it was made the first day the 2000 model went into production). I asked the tech a few weeks ago when I was there to check about an update on my 2000, he said there is one, but as long as I wasn't having any trouble DON"T DO IT! Then again....I'm not driving between 90-120! Got close last week following GARY C! |

Dan, do you have any numbers for this "fix" or upgrade to the tranny? I've check the tech bulletins and do not seem to find what you mentioned. Thanks. ------------------ |

Tech said as long as I was comfortable with present pereformance don't fool with it. He said he would upgrade if I wanted him to. Sorta like, "if it isn't broken, don't fool with it!" |
