One day while polishing a fender, while I'm so busy looking to see my reflection in the just-polished finish (narcissist that I am), I got some Zymol on the black mud flaps. Now, the mudflap has a whitish haze from the polish. Any ideas on how to clean it up and get it back to black?

Buy a new set or use some silicone spray and a very light detail brush.

Hope that works.

This is a example of the type of post that should be on the Off-Topic Discussion area.

Paul,

Try Meguire's #40 or Mother's Back-to-Black. Both work well, but I like the sheen of Meguire's best.

This topic should be in the detailing area but we don't have one. I fits perfectly here.

There is a aresol product that has been catching on in the "Corvette" hobby by a company caled Stoner ... they have THE BEST glass cleaner called Invisible Glass and a tire product that yu just spray on and it gives a perfect "show look" to the tires without looking too "wet", and they also have a rubber/trim product that I use on the mud flaps after waxing and it laves them looking great. Avaialable at most auto parts places, or check popular car magazine for their ad and coupons. Ypu can also buy direct and save $$$

Just an FYI

Peanut butter works very good for this problem and it is a whole lot cheaper. I learned this at the PT Cruiser site (one of few good things I found there. It works.

My wife drove one wheel of our '99 in some gravel in a parking lot this week. While backing up the gravel pushed the front left mud flap under the tire, pulling the flap under the wheel and wrapping the fender around the tire. $1275 damage. Has anyone else had this kind of problem before? Text

Hate to admit it but yes. hard lesson to learn. Cost me 650. for fender, 225.00 for paint and 2700. to lower the curb on my driveway. That's okay my wife had wanted me to do that for years. Her comment, "oh sure you finally do it when it affects YOUR car"!
LOL
