Don't think so, Laddie, I think they still want way too much for them. We were at the dealership last night, checking out a new vehicle for me and they had a Silver Prowler and a Black Tie Prowler in the showroom. I know that the Silver has been there for some time. Bob had called a long time ago and they wanted over 55 for it. So there it sits..... |

Could also be the transition to the new model year. I haven't seen a new Prowler at my dealership since I bought mine in April. ------------------ |

Al - Salesmen tell you what you want to hear. Not D/C fault - just untamed tigers running with a good economy. Keep in mind that a dealer can come down, but can't go up after stating a price (few exceptions) |

Funny how other manufactures have influence on the prices dealers can sell the vehicles for. If DC wanted there could be a limit to the ridiculous prices some dealers are asking. The problem with the stupid allocation system in place, it rewards the abuse instead of letting a dealer sell Prowlers at MSRP and keep getting them replaced as soon as they sell. Think about it. More cars sold and more satisfied customers. Sounds like a win win to me. What do you think DC? ------------------ |

Phil......I can't believe we are going to go there again...... Manufacturers DO NOT and CANNOT dictated prices that the dealers sell the cars for. MSRP = manufacturer's suggested retail price There are laws that govern this process. Dealers can charge whatever they want for any vehicle. The problem is with the dealers themselves. They always want inflated prices for the really cool cars. And they continue to get them, because there are individuals in this world who will pay those prices just to get the car. If the consumer refused to fall for this...it would have to end at some point. As long as someone will pay, the dealers will continue the practice. And hey, I know a certain DC exec who did the first year's dealer allocation for the Prowler. He's not stupid and neither is the process. It was based on criteria put together by DC. It is the dealers who then take advantage of the privilege. |

Dealers take advantage of the opportunity to take advantage that is granted by DC. A few exceptions exist and DC could allocate more Prowlers to these fair dealers, and fewer Prowlers to their prize gem dealers. Take the pricing strategy of the dealer in Oklahoma-salesmans name is Joey. Sells non-limited edition Prowlers for sticker because they know other dealers are out to price gouge. They do volume and make plenty of money on the 3% holdback. If more people read the POA and PPC b4 buying a Prowler then very, very few dealers would receive more than sticker. I'm surprised (not really but I'm on a roll) the dealers haven't tried to buy out the PPC and POA and stop the flow of information to the market place. |

I agree with CJ, there are some dealers that are realistic with their car prices for instance , I don't sell PT's for over sticker, and we do not sell prowlers for over sticker , with exception of the special editions , which the black tie sold for 48000.00 . Thats a whooping thousand over and is a about a 3600 profit for the dealer plus 3 percent. |

From a very good source, a general mgr. of a C/P/J dealer, says that district zone sales mgrs. allocate more Prowlers to dealers who don't sell over MSRP. At first, I didn't buy that statement, but a local D/C/P dealer (#1 in retail sales for many years) had only two or three Prowlers allocated to them for all of the 2000 model run. At $61,800 selling price and holding, its good that they don't get to many Prowlers. I lean towards believing that statement now. |

Larry, that may vary by DC zone. I know here in Louisiana the zone (or DC) continues to give allocations to Dealers that sell over invoice. However, I really think the Demand side is weak (for people wanting to pay more just to get a Prowler). This is good news for us Prowler enthusiasts. One dealer here in Metarie, Louisians has a 2001 Black Tie #101 for sale. The sticker is $47,000. They are asking for $5,000 premium now. However, if not sold by Jan 1, 2001, they will sell for sticker. Contact John Kreeger 504-888-2131. They recently sold a 2000 Yellow to someone in Ventura, CA. for sticker after the car sat on their showroom floor for 2 to 3 months (while they were asking for a premium). Previously they've sold a Woodward & many other Prowlers. Lance, I'd like to see you get more allocations... hope you continue to get all the allocations you want. I know I would gladly call you if I was in the market. |

Laddie, any chance of finding out who bought the yellow cat in Ventura? We live just outside Ventura and have not seen a yellow one running around. |

I'll try on Monday. I'm off for a cruise weekend trip to Chicot state park in Louisiana. We're having a little cookout... Jambalaya, Fried Turkey, fried fish, drunken chicken & few other cajun dishes... And, it's going to be a rainy weekend... |
