Guess, some things never change. I heard that too. They seem to play the wait and see game, tell me they have no idea what is coming to dealership until it ships. |

The dealers do know what colors they are getting in advance. I talked to One in Lincoln and they exactly when and what colors they were getting. I don't see why some dealers would not give out this info. |

Gary - I really hate to correct you, BUT, first the dealer gets a allotment sheet telling the number and types of cars they are getting. Then they get a spec. sheet which tells Vin #, color, production date , appox. delivery date. So at certain times they only know they have cars coming and no idea of color or date. Other times they can tell you what color and when arriving appox. Hope that clears up the mis-understanding? ------------------ |

Just received my issue of Autoweek for this week...looks as if Latham is advertising that they have a "Out of this World ORANGE!" for immediately delivery. (at least it reads that way)... |

The dealer (Mid City) in Arlington, TX that I got my yellow cat, knows what color they are getting in. I asked if when they were getting the orange one and they said they do not know, the next 3 are silver. They said that they could call one of the dealers that is getting an orange and try to swap one of there silvers for the orange. The dealers do know. Gary is right. Debbie |

I walked in, cash in had, to put a deposit on a Black-Tie locally and they could not tell me if they would get one and/or when. They also knew they had cars coming but no idea of colors (only speculation that they were either silver or orange). Now why would they want to loose a deal? Especially if they knew? I bought one the next day outta state. |

HiHo- you are right. Suncat (me) you are right. Gary doesn't know Jack, and Debbie, you need to read my above post again. At certain times, the dealer knows he is alloted X amount and types of models. As these units are scheduled for production, they are assigned color, equipment (not Prowlers-all same), Vin #, production date, and appox. delivery date. That is when the dealer knows what, when, where he/she is getting. This is the industry standard. Dealers do swap cars in transit, if they have a buyer for a certain model, color, etc waiting. Hope this clears the air. ------------------ |

Larry, Are you saying not all Prowlers are equipped the same??? What are the options or choices? |

From what I know all the Prowlers are the same.... BUT.... they do running changes to the car to improve them when a problem arises.... I have seen several `99's that should all be the same.... well they are not.... but once they make a change they do not go back to the old parts..... this should explain difference in equipment. Dealers only find out what they are getting after they are scheduled to ship or close to it.... They get schedule of cars coming. My car was shipped to the dealer before they knew it was coming....It just showed up one Saturday morning.... They didn't know what color.... they just requested a yellow one for their next car.... I'M SO GLAD FOR A YELLOW CAT DON'T KNOW JACK SCHITT BUT (If you know Jack please have him explain if I'm incorrect ------------------ |

Everybody is right. What I said is that all Prowlers are equiped the same. The only option I've seen listed, was the WoodWard Edition paint (now probably the same for Bow-Tie) which was billed at $1500.00 retail. Spec sheets show the equipment on all the other models scheduled for production. There are thousands of combonations on equipment options on the other model units. The dealer checks this list for info. relating to stock units (unsold cars to be on lot) and sold units (those directly ordered for a customer). If there are errors on sold units, they must react faster than sound to correct problems. My Dakota truck which was special order, actually showed up at dealership eight days before the date projected by DC. ------------------ |

Both Larry's I got it and agree with both of you. The dealers CANNOT order a certain color but can find out who got what color and who is about to get what color, in the next few weeks. I don't know why CJ can't go on the tour every Thursday and tell us what is being shipped. I would do that for all of you if I lived in Detroit. (RIGHT) CJ it is time for rebuttal. |

Ed, When CJ gets back from her line dance contest, she tried to say she had a wedding to go to but we all know she was out there for 2 step contest, I'm sure she will have something to say about this. CJ, I saw a Custom CJ7 today at a show and thought that would make a good winter vehicle for you, A CJ for the one and only CJ. We usually just get a tape of all our order cars on monday. On the tape it has von and when the car is in d 1 status we get a partial vin, and other order codes. I'm sure that if you make some calls we could find out what colors we are getting. But in my situation we have to call our DM or zone rep and he is not very good and has no clue what is going on, so he is hardly ever any help. Gary C if you could give any ideas of going around him. I recieve quite a few prowlers , for instance I have received 4 this month, all silver have a couple left. |

Lance - As a former (many yrs ago) general sales mgr. for a large Ford/L-M dealer, I would never suggest going around your district zone sales rep - bad idea. It is like being put in stall 88, when you only have 87 stalls. Work with them. |

I know thats why i'm clueless, because he is clueless. Thanks suncat, just trying to make light of some of the problems that dealers go through its not always the dealers fault that they don't have the info. Its usually we don't know and people think we should know everything. |

Does anyone know when the Orange Sparkle will begin to be produced - the latest I heard was mid-month October. CJ - you seem to be able to get the official numbers before the rest of us - what is the expected production numbers of the orange? Will it be limited (i.e. 150-200) or will it be like most other colors (i.e. 1000+)? |

From what I heard it will be a 1000+ colour. |

This makes sense (the 1000). History has them making one bright color in the 1000 range each year and keeping it for about 2 years. Also make one limited each year.. black tie will be the one this year. ------------------ |
