Elk City, OK Was a Power Tour stop has a great Route 66 Museum, Friendly folks, reasonably priced, Jane and I would go there again. We only had 5 Prowlers that were there in June. And then Jane and I can see the Cadillac Ranch that we missed the last time through.

I remember passing through Amarillo, and eating at the steak house there, but never saw anything on the Cadillac Ranch... Where is that? I heard it was just west of Amarillo. Might be going out that way later in the fall and would like to stop there if I knew where it was. Thanks in advance for the travel guide help... JohnS |

John. About 10 miles West of Amarillo on the South side of I-40. And yes I found the steakhouse! Maybe I need to post some pictures of some of my drives. As Johnny Cash sings,,,I've been everywhere man, I've been everywhere! ------------------ |

Hey Johns, The restaraunt is The Big Texan. They offer a 72 oz. steak with all the sides for anyone to attempt to eat in 1 hour or less. Amazingly a lot of people have done it and a few more. I think some 13 yr. old kid ate one in 40 something minutes, but a baseball player supposedly ate 1 in 11 minutes. The worst part is that the steak isn't that great of a piece of meat. Neat place to visit though. PaulR |

Thanks Larry & Paul. The Big Texan - what a great place that was. It was interesting to see the lists of all the people who finished the steak MEAL - gotta eat everything - the salad, the roll, veggies, AND the 72 oz steak all in less than an hour! I got one of their "Boot" beer mugs. They even have a 72oz steak on ice for display purposes! The SIZE of that thing! Next time I'm out that way I hope to get to the Cadillac Ranch. Thanks guys! |

L. Lord - did you eat one of those 72 oz steaks? I don't think tired, rodeo Brahma bulls make too good of a steak. Their humps are sent to some South American country, and used in a special recipe. You learn something every day at the POA website! ------------------ |

I had a cook out tonight and one of my friends that was here has his name on the list for the 72 oz. steak. I don't see how anyone can eat 4 1/2 lbs of meat let alone all the other stuff you have to eat to get it for free. AND YES HIS WAS FREE How did we get on to this anyway? |

Thought about it Suncat but decided that it just the right thing to do while having a lot of driving yet to do. Maybe next time! ------------------ |
