My dealership charges between $200-$300 for a new stock transfer gear set (2 sprockets and one chain) plus $396 for labor to install.
Prowler Pro charges $2,200 for their part exclusive of labor installation. I'm sure their performance gear gives better starts off the line and mid-range but $2,200-c'mon.... We should get at least $500 off each gear for a group purchase of 10 people for the part alone.

People are paying it.

The s/c isn't very cheap either. Price one out for other cars and see.

The only thing that makes sense to me is, that there are not millions of these cars, and until they get there cost back for testing and building these products they are going to have high prices.

Maybe a lot more people would buy it if it was reasonably priced. Recoup the sunk cost plus get the return on their capital they deserve.

2KB, Ed from Real Rod may be having a gear made. Good alternative.

Yes the gears are pricey but what aftermarket performance things for these cars aren't? Dean has done great with the design of these things going as far as having the people who made the original transaxle designing his gears. Then having prototypes made and tested for 10,000 miles, then removed and sent out to have them tested for wear and stress before having more made. The gears are more solid than the factory ones and make a big difference in the everday driveability of the car. In case you couldn't tell I like my new gears and think the price is fair. Maybe after he gets a few more orders he can lower the price but if not wait until someone else decides to do the work he has and will sell them cheaper. For me it would be the first change I would make if I buy another Prowler.
