What's the wildest way you've gotten out of a ticket? I've got two: 1) A state trooper pulled me over for running a stop sign. I immediately hopped out of my car and walked back to his. He got out to write me the ticket(his car still running), shut the door and proceeded to lock himself out. He told me he had a second pair of keys and we were both looking at them on his dash. He then told me not to laugh (that was hard) and said if I can give him a coat hanger, he'd let us off. He stopped me by an apartment complex so my wife ran up to an apartment and asked (and got one). Imagine what they were thinking with someone knocking on the door and asking for a hanger? 2) Pulled over recently for speed. Cop came up to my window and said, "Do you know you were speeding?" to which I replied, "Yes, sir, I know and I'm sorry". Guess he didn't expect honesty so he let me go. |

On 7-27, did a ride along with friend who is a Michigan trooper, covering I-75 and other major hiways. What I found out gave me a wealth of knowledge about radar, laser, and honesty. First, be honest to the officer, that goes a long way. ANY smart a** statement, you bought a ticket. Laser units must be stationary and they usually point up in air to avoid detection, then drop it down on you--bingo! Radar-they now have a remote control sitting on right thigh, which is a on-off-pause-and reverse(behind) unit. Long line of cars close together is a waste to them--radar bounce off which car? Need to keep car clocked in visual contact at ALL times, and safety factor of turning around is a major concern. When in doubt, let it go. Can't spend all day writing tickets. He had a 15-17 mph grace limit to speeders--I felt that is real generous (for me), but many officers draw the line at 10 mph over. Our first stop--young 23 yr old blonde, going to Detroit airport, found out that cleveage and long legs goes a long way towards a warning only. Next guy-71 in 55--said he was going 55, yep-bought a ticket. I personally only got out of one speeding ticket-was honest and said I had briefly not looked at speedo. Hope this helps somebody! Well it all stated on July 10, 2000. I sold my business and for the first time in many years I became part of the driving society. Sounded great to me, now I had time to enjoy some real PROWLEN! Only problem, less then one month, stopped four times in four different vehicles! Got out of 2, paid for two. OUCH Definitely looking for new business venture to save my license and stay out of jail! |
