Just a bit of trivia to prepare you for Carol and CJ's Dream Cruise event:

How did Woodward get its name?

President Thomas Jefferson in 1805 named William Hull to be the governor of the Michigan Territory and three judges, the most prominent Augustus Elias Brevoort Woodward. At that time,Detroit was at the heart of the Michigan government. Judge Woodward provided many new ideas, the grandest being the reconstruction of Detroit following a plan by Pierre L'Enfant. It called for a number of circular parks with avenues and streets radiating like spokes from the hub of a wheel to feature grand avenues 200 ft. wide. At the time of rebuilding Detroit, Detroit only had nine hundred inhabitants, but Woodward was planning for the future and is now known as one of America's pioneer planners.

Horse racing on Woodward was a daily sport, little did they know that many years later, a car called the Judge would race on Woodward (named after Judge Woodward?) or was it more logically named after "Laugh-In" - "here comes the judge." Now you know the story.

See you there!!!

CJ - Thanks for the history lesson, as I appreciate the Michigan knowledge. My three closest friends are from Michigan, and I think in my four trips to the Detroit-Monroe area, that I have learned more of the history of that area than they ever learned growing up there. Somehow, I find that sad. Just returned from Detroit on the 30th, and seen more rain in the last three days there then I see in Phoenix in two years! I hope it is dry for you and the CATS at Woodward (except Gary C.-you can shoot him with a water pistol). Thanks, Larry

I found that to be true when we moved to Colorado back in 1973. We lived there almost 14 years and my friend there (who were natives) used to kid me and tell me that I should be a travel guide in Colorado. I had been more places and knew more about CO than they did. It never ceased to amaze me that they didn't stop to appreciate where they lived. Perhaps it was because they never had to live anywhere else. I just couldn't understand how they could not want to travel such a beautiful state when they lived right there! I miss it a lot. It will always be home in my heart. I was born and raised in Michigan and left when I was 23 with my husband and 2 kids. How ironic that I would eventually end up back in Michigan due to my husband's job! I am now trying to make up for all the years I didn't live here. There are a lot of places in MI that I have never been and MI has a lot of beautiful places. I guess the moral is to appreciate what you have! Like our Prowlers!!!

Thanks for the lesson, WILL THERE BE A TEST ON THIS AT BO'S?

You could not be more correct in appreciating what is right in front of you.

Growing up in Indianapolis with all the great places to visit, you still hear there is nothing to do.

But I still wonder why anyone would spend their hard earned money and vacation time to come to INDIANA.

It is hard to think of HOME as a place exciting to site see. We see it ever day so no big deal.

Absolutely there is going to be a test at Bo's!! Hope you've been paying attention to all my posts!! Other people obviously have been!!

We tend to take our everyday lives for granted, which we should never do. Live life each day and appreciate what you have every day......and of course, Prowl every day you can for we are lucky to be able to!! My younger brother died a couple of years ago at the age of 38 (one week short of his 39th birthday). It certainly brought into perspective what is important in life and how unpredictable and fragile it is. I will never take for granted again anything in my life. I rejoice in my husband, my sons, my grandsons and all that is wonderful in my life. I appreciate all the friends I have made since owning this car and look forward to cultivating and maintaining those friendships. That was a very motivating reason for Carol and I to do this Woodward Cruise event. We hope everyone has a good time!

Hey CJ, you are right about people not knowing their surroundings. I have lived in Colorado now for about 3 years and I have seen more things than a lot of locals I make friends with. I have traveled around the country and it always seems to be that way. Everyone always wants to visit things that are somewhere else than were they live.

Hey, Andrew!

I envy you that you are still in Colorado and I'm not. Would love to prowl some of those mountain roads, especially in the Fall!!!

If I can make any suggestions on places to visit, let me know!!

Andrew:

Okay, how about Ft. Collins, up the Big Thompson to Estes Park. Through Rocky Mt. Nat'l Park, over Trail Ridge Road and down to Grand Lake and back! Talk about being on top of the world!!

P.S. Do you want it to be a little water pistol or one of those big blasters!?

Hey CJ, I am always open for suggestions on drives in Colo. Yesterday, I got together with two other Prowler owners and we drove through Morrison and up Mt Evans(Highest Paved road in the US)14,246 Feet. It was a beautiful day, no rain and nice temperatures. Got plenty of photos and let many people take photos of their kids next to the kats. I love this car and Colo. I am thinking of doing a trip over Independence Pass to Aspen in the fall to try and catch the Aspens changing color.

Andrew & PhxSuncat: Indepence Pass and Aspen were always my favorite Fall drives. There is no more beautiful place on earth. Another great one was Crested Butte (but it's mostly dirt roads - we did a lot of Jeepin' in Colorado).

Haven't been up to Mt. Evans in years. How were the roads? Don't remember them as being very good.

And then there is the Million Dollar Highway which goes from Ouray to Silverton. That is a beautiful area also. Not many places in Colorado that I didn't like.

CJ: I'm 1000 miles away from those cruises in Colorado, but you are making me anxious to someday get back there in my Prowler. Gary C. prefers to get hit with those big blaster water cannons! hehehe Larry
