I've heard of several people that have successfully polished the rear aluminum frame so it looks like chrome. Can a regular aluminum polish be used by hand or do I need to use some sort of buffing wheel? And what is the best polish to use that will stand up to the elements?

Check out the posting of KITTY'S REAR END TREATMENT much further down. It was submitted by prwlyn. He spray painted with Krylon Chrome paint and it looks fabulous. I have since sprayed mine. Very quick, cheap and looks great.

I have polished most of the aluminum on the rear of my car. I used Semi chrome (available at motorcycle shops) by hand. MANY HOURS to do this. If you have small buffer and know how to use it would speed the process.

As far as lasting. I have done my once good and hit and miss to maintain luster.

I did not touch the lower control arms
because it is rough finish.

I KNOW IT IS TEMPTING TO USE THIS CHROME SPRAY PAINT. I have used it before and it looks great when 1st done but will not retain shine long. Hope you guys have better luck with it than I have.
