Here is a bit of low cost treatment to a Prowler for those of us workin' stiffs. 1. Pin stripping is 3M double stripe, cost $13.00, done by me. 2. Bumpers painted the same color as the car, cost $273.00, by Cruisin' Classics. 3. The double pinstripe is a nice touch, I like the red on black and especially the rear fenders! How did they paint the dash? On the car or did you send it off? ------------------ |

quote: Mike, they did the dash and console while I was on vacation. I had them pick the car up from my garage and return it when done. I'll be taking a snapshot tonight and post the picture after. I was holding off until I get the 5 speaker grills painted in red also. ------------------ |

Fred, Looking good!.... The pinstrip is a nice touch. I also painted my rear bumpers to match (yellow, in my case). Just curious, are you planning on painting the fronts as well? or are you planning on removing them. I have been debating on whether to paint the front bumpers, but am concerned that the paint will get dinged up, as it takes more abuse than the rear. |

If I ever do get another one of these it will be Yellow> I already have the pin stripping and interior ideas in mind. I just feel that DC should have done the bumpers the same as the car as they do on their other models. I know Laddie has already had his PT's bumpers painted to match and it now looks like a finished product, I think. ------------------ |

Damn, Fred. Now look what you have done. I just cant stop salivating over the rear end of your car... Well, looks like I have a weekend worth of things to do to the rear end of my car. Thank you Fred... thank you very, very much for sharing... |

Looks nice Fred. I have a 99 Black but we replaced the bumpers with 2000 black bumpers. Like that much better. I seem to have a real problem with modifying anything on my car. Just can't bring myself to do it. Looks like I will be the only one with a stock car soon! |

OK CJ, now it's YOUR turn to put a "group purchase" together for his club ... meaning .. "you replaced the bumpers on your '99 with 2000 black's". Can we get in on the same "friendly customer" discount?? I wanted to get a second set to paint yellow for mine but had a coronary over the price! HELP us .... =) |

quote: Staying stock is great too! I just wanted to be able to attend a club event and have and have the personal touch to mine. After all the cars are exactly the same except for the color. When people stop and check out the cars at an event they usually say "look at the yellow or black" and then "Oh its another Black one". This where the personal touch comes in, they then say "look at this black one and Yeh, but get a look at this black".... It just gives people a bit more to marvel at when drooling over the car itself. As one of my members said, "We spotted ou in the morning on our way to the airport". He said his wife told him, "Hey, thats Fred, see the pin striping!" I thought of getting the 2000 bumpers but all it did was make my 99 look like a 2000 and I felt that going with the car color made it stand out. I now have people asking what is different about mine because the old grey bumpers are gone but it is "different" and thats what I'm about. ------------------ |

Fred, A couple questions on the chrome spray paint. 1) did you have to do any special prep? 2) how long has it been? I was under the impression that one needed to prep Aluminum so that paint would adhere properly. I could be wrong, but just thought I would ask the question. I think it looks great. Tom Kalski |

quote: I used a bucket of water mixed with Dawn dishwashing liquid. It is the best one for removing old wax off the car and grease. I then let it dry and sprayed a very lite coat at first. Once that dried good, abotu 2 hours, I then put one more coat to a nice finish. It has only been on there a week now and I have washed it once since. I just use the high pressure and plain water to clean. No special treatment was used on the frame before painting. |

Hi Fred... Looking great... nice touch... I've also had my Prowler rear bumpers painted red and just recently had the "Plymouth Prowler" painted yellow within the bumpers (stands out & looks nice). Remove front bumpers... Would that chrome paint work on the front A arms??? |

Here is a shot of the front and side of the stripping. I'll post the interior shot as soon as it comes back in to me. LADDIE: Its funny you asked abotu doin the "A" frames in the front, a co-worker just stated he thought that would look good. The frame is a bit different since I could always paint it back but trying to get a match for the "A" frame color might be hard. Just in case I don't like it and wanted to go back...HHmmmmmmmm! ------------------ |

Here is the interior shot finally. We still have the 2 side speaker grills and the 3 rear ones to paint. Also this is a better shot of the front and the pin stripping. ------------------ |
