I am going to try and to some research into the subject and am looking for information form Prowler owners. What I am looking for is Official 1/4 mile times and speeds and the enviornmental conditions that were present during each run if possible. I am also looking for information on Dyno run sheets on stock Prowlers if anyone has them. I am concerned about the Specifications on the HP and TQ claims of the engine in the current Prowlers(99&00). I don't believe that the engine is producing what DC claims it should be. Now, I am not saying that DC is deliberately doing anything wrong, I just want to find out if the Engine is living up to its claims and if not, find a solution. Thanks for any information that you might provide. LukyDuck@aol.com ------------------ |

To add to this topic. I have been steadily getting my 1/4 times lower (16.4 to 16.3 to 16.2's) and increasing my MPH speeds (82 to 83 to 84). Note: I am at 5800 feet abv SL. I just think that at my altitude, I should be running in the 15.2's and about 88 MPH if the engine produced 253 HP and 255 TQ. I have weighed my car, so I know it weighs in about 2842 lbs with a full tank of gas and no driver. ------------------ |

One more quick note. If you do post some information, I would like to know if you have done any modifications to the Engine or drivetrain (ie Borla, K&N, Nitros, Supercharger, etc.). And I will not share your personal information with anyone if you so desire to keep it secret. Thanks ------------------ |

Andrew, Sorry to burst your bubble, but automatic transmissions typically have 25-30% loss. Working with the Prowler flywheel horsepower of 253 to the rear wheel horsepower of about 180 equates to a loss of about 29%. Considering your altitude low 16 sec 1/4 mile times seem about right. You may want to try and power brake the car out of the hole to shave a 1/10 or so. If you want more get-up and go, add a supercharger or nitrous. ------------------ |

I ran 15.02 in Phoenix AZ. 90 mph....in 107 degrees. I have BORLA..ran first time in drive at idle...second time ..A.S...reved to 2000 RPM...same result. Al Becker ran 86 mph..don't remember his E.T....I raced a GTO at route 66 in SO CALIF. And smoked him ! If you want something really fast...try a VIPER. |

This has nothing to do with getting a really fast car. This also has nothing to do with making my Prowler go faster. My point is that I believe that the Prowlers are still only producing 214 HP not the 253 HP that DC claims. I just want what I paid for. Look at the facts and someone explain them to me. Motor Trend Magazine (10/96) Motor Trend Magazine (07/98) I don't think that any Prowler owners have ever come close to achieving the times in the 07/98 article. Motor Trend said that they did nothing special to achieve these times. But they did use "Press Fleet Cars" and not a car off of the showroom floor. Can anyone out there come close to the 1/4 mile times that MT achieved? I know of a few people with 1999 Prowlers and 2000 Prowlers and none of them can get into the 14 second range. ------------------ |
